It is likely that you have multiple accounts with different usernames and passwords in use on the Georgia Tech campus. It can be confusing. In order to clearly determine what your GT Account Username and Password is and if the account is active, the following should help guide you:
The format of the account username
- Current account formats are flast###, where the first initial and last name are followed by a set of numbers
- Legacy Faculty & Staff account formats are fl###, where first and last initials are followed by a set of numbers
- Legacy Student accounts gt(x)####, where the x could be a third letter and the # are numbers.
Is the account active?
If it was created, it is most likely active. Sometimes it is not clear if it was created, especially if it was created for you and you were not aware of it. If you are faculty or staff, your Customer Support Representative (CSR) or departmental support staff might have created one for you. You can ask them if you are not sure. If you are a student, the FASET process might have help create it for you. In this case, calling the OIT Technology Support Center at 404-894-7173 will help you verify if this is the case. If you know how to use lookup (lu), you can check that way as well. Another way to know is if you get email requesting you to update your password, then your GT account is active.
The password for this account is initially given to you in person on a printed card produced by the OIT Technology Support Center in the Resource Center on the bottom floor of the Library. You may change this password to something you can remember (this is highly recommended). This password will periodically expire. Do not worry, you will be warned and requested to change it via email. You may change it at any time by going to passport.gatech.edu.
Getting a login page
Are you unable to login? Are you having trouble getting a login page to open for you? There are two issues to consider.
Logging into LAWN
The usual method for logging into lawn is via a web browser -- Firefox, Mozilla, Internet Explorer, etc. Users access and submit a form to authenticate/register their device(s), and are subsequently connected to LAWN.
Authenticating networked devices that lack a web browser can be done via the LAWN Device Login.
